On 3 September, the exhibition Uzbekistan: Heritage in Motion opened at the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha, organised by the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation in collaboration with the Museum of Islamic Art.

The exhibition presents Uzbekistan’s cultural heritage from the period preceding the spread of Islam in Central Asia to the present day. It brings together 152 museum objects, including works from seven museums in Uzbekistan, the Museum of Islamic Art and the Qatar National Library.

The project reflects the particular emphasis placed, at the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, on presenting Uzbekistan’s cultural heritage internationally.

Highlights include the western mural from the Hall of Ambassadors at Afrasiab, displayed outside Uzbekistan for the first time, pages from the eighth-century Katta Langar Qur’an, and sixteenth-century architectural drawings.

The exhibition runs until 28 November 2026.
