The Garden Pavilion — a ‘deconstructed yurt’ designed by Kulapat Yantrasast — is presented at Palazzo Citterio during Milan Design Week as part of the exhibition When Apricots Blossom.

Drawing on the traditions of Karakalpakstan, the pavilion reinterprets the yurt’s characteristic lattice structure as a lightweight, open framework, reflecting mobility, resilience and the environmental changes in the region.

Conceived as the social place of the exhibition, The Garden Pavilion is not only an architectural installation but also a space for gathering, dialogue and reflection. Its programme of talks, workshops and artisan-led demonstrations brings Uzbek and Karakalpak perspectives into dialogue with the international design community, showing how traditional knowledge can inform new approaches to fragile environments.
