Uzbekistan: Heritage in Motion, on show at the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha, presents Uzbekistan as one of the historic centres of science, culture and artistic production in the Islamic world.
The exhibition’s four sections cover the cultural landscape of the region on the eve of the spread of Islam through Central Asia, the architectural legacy of the Samanid and Timurid eras, intellectual achievements, and the development of traditional crafts — from ceramics and jewellery to textiles.
Historical objects are placed in dialogue with the present day, revealing the continuity of Uzbekistan’s artistic traditions and their significance today.
