Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation extends its deepest condolences to the family and friends of historian, regional expert, and writer Boris Golender. Boris passed away yesterday at the age of 78, leaving behind a rich legacy of hundreds of popular science articles, tourist guides, and documentary films about the history and culture of the country and, in particular, his beloved Tashkent.

He knew how to inspire his listeners with love for the place where he lived. Boris Anatolyevich knew his region not only from archival documents and manuscripts, but also from the stories of people and streets. For him, history was a living, changing substance, filled with memories, details, and emotions. Boris Golender shared his knowledge passionately and with great love, giving lectures and conducting tours. He loved the city, and the city, in the person of its inhabitants, loved him.

May his memory live on.
