From 20 October 2026, Uzbek master craftsmen Alisher and Shokhrukh Rakhimov, representing the sixth and seventh generations of a renowned ceramicist dynasty, will undertake a month-long residency in Doha in collaboration with Liwan Design Studios and Labs, with the support of the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation.

The residency will focus on the exchange of craft knowledge and practices between Uzbekistan and Qatar. Through this collaborative process, participants will explore the traditions of Uzbek ceramics and work alongside Alisher and Shokhrukh Rakhimov to create pieces that offer a contemporary interpretation of the craft heritage of both countries.

The project continues the tradition of intergenerational knowledge transmission that lies at the heart of the Rakhimov family’s practice, while creating a space for professional exchange, collaboration and the development of cultural ties between Uzbekistan and Qatar.
