Chairperson of the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation, Gayane Umerova took part in the Art Basel Conversations discussion programme as part of the inaugural edition of Art Basel Qatar, speaking on the panel “Rubaiya, Bukhara and Jaou: New Platforms, New Opportunities,” dedicated to new biennale formats and cultural platforms.

The discussion also featured Sheikha Alanoud Al Thani, Director of the Rubaiya Qatar Foundation; Lina Lazaar, Founder of the Jaou Tunis Biennale and Vice President of the Kamel Lazaar Foundation. The session was moderated by Amir Berbic, Dean of the School of the Arts at Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar.

During the discussion, the Bukhara Biennal was presented as a sustainable institutional model built on long-term development and engagement with the local context, as well as a key part of the Foundation’s ecosystem aimed at strengthening contemporary cultural institutions and international cooperation.
