The Chairperson of the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation, Gayane Umerova, met with Lazare Eloundou Assomo, Director of the UNESCO World Heritage Centre, at UNESCO Headquarters.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the implementation of joint projects for the restoration of the Poi Kalan complex and the creation of an open-air archaeological museum within the Shahristan area of Bukhara. They also reviewed the outcomes of UNESCO expert missions to Uzbekistan conducted to support the development of these projects. As part of these missions, assessments were carried out at the Khudoyar Khan Palace in Kokand and the Sitorai Mokhi Khosa Palace in Bukhara to prepare recommendations for their conservation and restoration.
Particular attention was given to the future work of the International Advisory Committee for the Protection of Uzbekistan’s Cultural Heritage Sites.
