The Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation and The King’s Foundation School of Traditional Arts (KFSTA) have announced their partnership and the opening of the Naqsh School of Crafts in Tashkent. This project marks an important step in preserving, developing and passing on traditional craft knowledge to new generations.
Located within the Centre for Islamic Civilisation, Naqsh will unite the expertise of Uzbek artisans and international specialists from KFSTA — an educational institution founded by His Majesty King Charles III to support traditional arts worldwide. In its first year, the school will offer five courses: the first began in Tashkent and will soon continue in Samarkand, where students will study the ornamentation and architecture of the 15th-century Ulugh Beg Madrasah.
The opening of Naqsh symbolises revival and continuity — when ancient crafts find their future, and creativity inspired by heritage connects past and present.
