UNESCO and the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation have unveiled the photo exhibition “Uzbekistan: A Living Heritage” at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris. The event is timed to the upcoming 43rd UNESCO General Conference, which will for the first time take place in Samarkand.
Created by renowned photographer Laziz Hamani, the exhibition features over 97 photographs showcasing Uzbekistan’s cultural and artistic legacy — from the domes of Registan and mosaics of Bukhara to the fortresses of Khiva, as well as the craftsmanship of silk weavers in Margilan, ceramists in Rishtan, and woodcarvers in Tashkent.
“Uzbekistan’s cultural heritage is not only a memory of the past but a living dialogue with the present,” noted Gayane Umerova, Chairperson of the Foundation. The exhibition is open to visitors at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris until the beginning of January 2026.
