In the second part of the 12th Interregional Meeting of National Commissions for UNESCO in Samarkand, attention was focused on issues of partnership, inclusion, and the role of science in ensuring sustainable development. The discussions demonstrated that national commissions have the capacity to unite governments, the academic community, civil society, and the private sector, translating UNESCO’s global priorities into practical initiatives.
The programme concluded with a concert attended by delegates and guests of the meeting. The world-renowned violinist Vladimir Spivakov and pianist Hélène Mercier performed works by Franck, Massenet, Bloch, Debussy, Elgar, Brahms, Rachmaninoff, Piazzolla, and Schnittke — a vivid cultural highlight underscoring Samarkand’s role as a city where tradition meets modernity.
