Reading time: 3 min.

We are glad to announce that the international charity race Samarkand Half Marathon will take place on November 1, 2020 in Samarkand. In March, online registration will be available for everyone on the website of SHM.

The Samarkand Half Marathon is an event that includes not only a sporting event, but also will have cultural and educational programs alongside it. The main goal of the project is to raise the awareness of accessibility problems and promote the inclusiveness of cultural and art institutions, as well as to promote a healthy lifestyle and develop sports tourism in Uzbekistan.

Last year, both experienced and novice runners from 25 countries took part in the half marathon. There were three distances: 21 km, 10 km and 2 km. A route that was chosen for the race allowed participants to see all the main historical heritage of Samarkand: Sherdor madrasah, Ulugbek madrasah, Bibi-Khanum mosque, Tillya-Kari Madrasah, Rukhabad mausoleum, Gur-Emir mausoleum, Siab Bazaar and much more. The track of the Samarkand half marathon is certified by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) and the Association of International Marathons (AIMS).
